  • "Dr. Tonya Jackman Hampton invites us to look at the most foundational of human emotions: fear. In an incredibly readable fashion, filled with real-life examples, she helps us understand how our avoidance of dealing with it blocks our capacity as leaders. I can’t imagine a more important topic for our time, nor a more compassionate and thoughtful way to talk about it."

    HOWARD J. ROSS
Bestselling author of Everyday Bias and Our Search for Belonging

  • “The Myth of the Fearless Leader is an eye-opener for leaders maneuvering through present and future challenges. As a Black woman in leadership, I once adorned myself with the label ‘fearless,’ only to realize its fallacy. If only I had encountered this incredible book earlier, offers emotional support and practical wisdom.”

  • “Dr. Tonya Jackman Hampton tackles a common myth about successful leaders—that they are ‘fearless.’ While this may appear to be at worst a harmless myth, it actually gets in the way of understanding how true leaders experience, respond to, and even leverage their fears to drive success. Knowing our fears can be the key that unlocks next-level leadership!”

    BILL WOODSON
Vice President of diversity, equity and inclusion at Hobart and William Smith Colleges

  • “Dr. Tonya Jackman Hampton challenges the traditional concept of fearless leadership, urging us to embrace our fears as allies in order to arrive at our boldest and most courageous selves. This book isn’t just an intellectual exercise; it’s a practical guide that encourages leaders to engage with their fears, explore the depths of vulnerability, and execute with newfound courage.”
